How COVID Helped Create Something Amazing!

Enhanced Prep started 2020 strong with continued partnerships with Westminster High School and The College Success Foundation. At the start of the year, our one-on-one tutoring was continuing to grow and we had provided assistance to students and families from over 20 countries. We were looking forward to having even greater impact when the world as we all knew it changed and the COVID-19 shutdowns began. But with the many challenges the pandemic brought to the education sector, we also embraced many opportunities to learn and adapt.

Enhanced Prep was approached by Lori Parrish from a non-profit organization, Metropolitan Development Council (MDC), who wanted to create a place for students to come for homework support, help with college essays, test prep, and meetings with their MDC Advisor. Lori wanted to create a village, because we all know it takes a village to care for our kids. The Virtual Village was born via this partnership.

As of today, we have been able to serve well over 1,000 students throughout the Tacoma, Franklin Pierce, and Bethel school districts within this Virtual Village. These students now have the ability to virtually meet with some of the best tutors in the country and receive help with everything from AP Literature to SAT Test Prep. Our team has also attended virtual college visits with students to help them determine best fit schools. Students are building critical relationships with our tutors through these meetings that will likely continue as they move on to college (and, yes, the Virtual Village will be there to help them with this step).

We know that not every student is planning to attend college, and the Virtual Village has resources for these students as well. Our team is excited to help students with all aspects of their high school completion, including writing resumes and conducting mock interviews.

The Virtual Village has become a vital resource, and we are always looking for ways to expand this offering to more students and at additional times. If you are interested in offering the Virtual Village to your students, or if you would like to become a named sponsor of the Virtual Village, please reach out to our team at All of these services are free to students.
