Answer a few questions to connect with your perfect tutor

Why Enhanced Prep?

Many tutoring companies claim that they can help students increase their test scores, but very few can support those claims and almost none of them focus on a student's ultimate goal - getting into their dream school. Nowadays, it takes more than a single strong test score to get into college. Students have got to have the grades and the test scores and then some. At Enhanced Prep, we provide a truly customizable approach to tutoring, focusing on each student's specific needs. We match students with the right tutor who can help them study for a biology test one day and prep for their upcoming college entrance exam the next.

What is AP Environmental Science?

AP Environmental Science is a college-level course that students can opt to take while in high school in order to acquire college credits early. After the completion of this year-long course, students can take the AP Environmental Science exam which, if passed with a high enough score, can grant them college credits at different institutions. Four overarching concepts are assessed on this exam: the transfer of energy in biological and earth systems, ways in which different earth systems interact with one another, interactions between biotic and abiotic factors, and sustainable development. These encompass a number of important topics, including ecosystems and their biodiversity, earth systems, human activities and interactions with the environment, and pollution and its global effects.

The AP Environmental Science Exam: What You Need to Know

The AP Environmental Science exam is a comprehensive assessment of the preceding course that is comprised of 80 selected-response questions, collectively worth 60% of the total score, and 3 free-response questions worth 40% of the total score. This is administered over a total of 2 hours and 40 minutes, with 90 minutes given for the former of these and 70 minutes for the latter. In some cases, students are automatically registered for the exam when they are enrolled in the class; at other schools, students may need to initiate registration.
When attending the exam, students may bring with them either a four-function, scientific, or graphing calculator to be used throughout the entire exam. After their completion of the assessment, their responses will be scored on a scale from 1 to 5, with scores of 1 or 2 indicating an unqualified subject-matter knowledge, while scores from 3 to 5 indicate a qualified level of varying degrees.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is AP Environmental Science hard?

Because AP Environmental Science is a college-level course, it will be more difficult than most other classes that students have taken at a high school level. The complexity and general level of the information covered will match those typically seen in a college environmental science course, including such information as earth cycles and structures of ecosystems, population dynamics, human resource use and interactions, pollution, and sustainable practices. In order to succeed in both the course itself and the exam that covers its contents, it is important for students to adhere to a strict study routine throughout the academic year. This can be aided with help from online AP Environmental Science tutors from Enhanced Prep.

When do I need to start studying for the AP Environmental Science exam?

When preparing for the AP Environmental Science exam, it is important for students to begin as early as possible. This is because of the large amount of information that they are expected to know in order to succeed on this assessment. The studying process for this can be supplemented with outside AP Environmental Science help from Enhanced Prep. By preparing with our tutors over an extended period of time, students can better retain information in a more relaxed environment, and our tutors can get to know them personally in order to understand their test-taking strengths and weaknesses. Through this, we can create a personalized study plan to help find test-taking strategies that are best suited for each student, giving them the best chance of success on test day.

Do I need to do well in my AP Environmental Science class to pass the test?

While a student’s performance in their AP Environmental Science course does not directly determine their score on the AP Environmental Science exam, it does determine the likelihood that they will succeed on test day. By applying themselves throughout the academic year, students can better connect with and understand course materials, thus potentially leading to higher scores on the exam. An important part of this process is in studying throughout the year and practicing for the exam ahead of the scheduled date. An AP Environmental Science tutor from Enhanced Prep can assist students in this by practicing sample problems with them and determining where they’re struggling the most. This can prepare students not only for the test content, but its format so that they are fully prepared on test day.

Do I need to pass the AP Environmental Science exam to pass the class?

Students do not need to pass the AP Environmental Science exam in order to pass their class. Rather, the grade that students receive in the class itself will be determined by assignments given by their instructors, which can include homework problems, writing assignments, lab exercises and reports, and in-class assessments. Different students may struggle with different kinds of assignments, and this is exactly why our tutors at Enhanced Prep always create a personalized plan for every student that is based on their individual strengths and weaknesses. By getting to know every student personally, our tutors understand what they need help with the most, and how to communicate with them meaningfully.

How do I choose an AP Environmental Science tutor?

When searching for the right tutor, students should first and foremost look for someone who is available to help them at times that work best for them, and in a location that is most comfortable for them. Beyond this, the right tutor will be someone who listens closely to their student’s input and prioritizes their needs in everything that they do.
