Every Enhanced Prep journey begins with a diagnosis of a student’s individual strengths and weaknesses. College entrance exams test a wide variety of concepts. We identify which concepts will be most valuable for students to focus on so they can maximize their accuracy on test day.
Enhanced Prep tutors will provide each student with different tips and tricks to help them save time on the test without sacrificing accuracy. Equipped with these strategies, students will be able to see a question and know the best approach to answer it and avoid pesky test traps.
So, you’ve mastered the content of the test and you know how to approach the different kinds of questions on the test. What’s next? Each student will receive a unique game plan detailing how much time they should spend on each section of the test, the order in which they should take the test and more!
Students should prepare for the ISEE by paying attention in class and completing assignments so they don’t fall behind on material they should know. Reading the guide for the corresponding exam is a good first step to becoming familiar with the exam and its scoring process. After that, students should take multiple practice tests to ensure they know the material and are prepared for what test day will be like. An ISEE tutor can help students create a study plan, so they are able to see what areas of focus they need the most help in and stay on track.
The ISEE can be difficult for students who don’t study and take enough practice tests. However, students are still given a chance to prove themselves on the test by not being penalized for incorrect answers. So, students will have a better chance of getting the score they desire by avoiding skipping questions they aren’t sure of. Enhanced Prep’s ISEE tutors can help students with tailored test-taking strategies so they can remain confident in their abilities on test day.
Students have 3 chances a year to take the ISEE test. Testing periods are divided into seasons, with 4 months per season. Students are not allowed to take the test multiple times in one season, so they should plan their retakes and study schedules accordingly. If test-takers are worried about their ability to pass the exam on the first try, or they want to improve their scores from a previous attempt, Enhanced Prep’s online ISEE tutors can help them craft a study plan to get the score they’re aiming for on their next retake.
Calculators are not permitted on the exam unless a student has been approved to use one because of an accommodation. If a student needs an accommodation, they must submit a request form, which includes providing documentation for why they need an accommodation. If a student is allowed to use a calculator, they can only use a four-function calculator provided by their family.
The ISEE exam is not a pass/fail exam. Students are scored from 760 to 940 in each section of the test (verbal reasoning, reading comprehension, quantitative reasoning, and mathematics achievement). Another way to calculate scores is percentile ranking. A 70th percentile ranking could mean a student did better than 70 percent of other test-takers. Stanine rank is the last scoring method; scores are measured from 1-9 and the higher the score, the higher the rank. Higher scores are desirable, but admissions boards don’t just take scores into account when reviewing applications. If higher scores are desired, ISEE tutors can use score reports to determine what areas a student needs more work in.
