AP English & Social Science Tests
Every Enhanced Prep journey begins with a diagnosis of a student’s individual strengths and weaknesses. College entrance exams test a wide variety of concepts. We identify which concepts will be most valuable for students to focus on so they can maximize their accuracy on test day.
Enhanced Prep tutors will provide each student with different tips and tricks to help them save time on the test without sacrificing accuracy. Equipped with these strategies, students will be able to see a question and know the best approach to answer it and avoid pesky test traps.
So, you’ve mastered the content of the test and you know how to approach the different kinds of questions on the test. What’s next? Each student will receive a unique game plan detailing how much time they should spend on each section of the test, the order in which they should take the test and more!
You should prepare for an IB exam by paying attention in class, studying, and completing all your assignments. Take plenty of practice exams and avoid cramming right before exam day. When the time for exams comes closer, it is wise to work with an IB tutor so that you can get a refresher on the exam content. Enhanced Prep’s tutors can work with you to learn helpful test-taking strategies and stick to a study plan.
IB exams assess students on their academic knowledge as well as other skills such as critical thinking, creative problem solving, and written and oral communication. Students may be assessed through typical exam questions such as written response, multiple choice, and essays, but teachers may also assess them in areas such as oral performance (for languages), lab performance (for science) and artistic performance. Working with an IB tutor can help a student achieve their goals in these areas.
IB exams are offered twice per academic year in November and May. Once a student takes their initial examinations, they can do 2 retakes, for a total of 3 chances to pass the exams and earn their diploma for the program. Students should consider working with an IB tutor to maximize their chances of passing on their first attempt or to study strategically to pass on their next retake.
All students taking the IB exams will need a calculator for at least one exam, but possibly for more. Only certain types of calculators are allowed for certain exams. This includes brand names as well as calculator models. For example, a Texas Instruments TI 84 Plus is allowed for mathematics subjects, but a Texas Instruments TI Voyage 200 is not allowed for any subjects.
Students are graded for each course based on a scale of 1 to 7, with 7 being the best score you can get. These scores are not just based on the IB exams but a student’s performance in the course overall. A score of 4 is considered a passing grade. Students who are pursuing a diploma will need at least a 24/45; this is the sum number of their individual scores added together. Students should consider working with an IB tutor to prepare them to do their best on the exams and their coursework.
