At Enhanced Prep, we provide a truly customizable approach to tutoring, focusing on each student’s specific needs. We match students with the right tutor who can help them study for a biology test one day and prep for their upcoming college entrance exam the next.

“The tutoring absolutely helped my student focus, learn & pratice the skills and knowledge he needed to greatly improve his ACT score. He was also more motivated to work with his tutor than he was with self paced course he tried before.”

“After only a few weeks of meetings, I knew that everthing was changing – not just the grades that I was seeing on assignments, but the attitude that I brought to each period. I took the AP Calculus AB Exam and scored a 5!”

“We tried improving our son’s scores with a local prep company recommended by his school… their focus was on repetitive testing in a group environment. After just 10 sessions with Enhanced Prep he scored a 35 on his ACT and just completed his interview for Harvard.”

Online SAT Tutors Can Help Students Achieve Best Scores

Most students taking the SAT do so in order to receive college acceptances and scholarships. The higher the score a student gets, the more likely they are to impress college admissions and scholarship boards (though it’s important to note that high scores are not the sole deciding factor).

The digital SAT is an adaptive exam divided into 2 sections: Verbal (reading/writing) and Math. Each section contains 2 modules: 32 minutes for 27 questions for each of the 2 verbal modules and 35 minutes for 22 questions for each of the 2 math modules.  Students’ accuracy on the first module within a section determines the level of difficulty they are given for the second module within that same section: easy or hard. The reading questions within each verbal module test students on reading comprehension, analysis, logic, and critical thinking. The writing questions within each verbal module test students on punctuation, grammar, and rhetorical skills. The math section includes algebra, data analysis, geometry, and problem-solving.

Enhanced Prep’s team of top-tier tutors can help students master the topics in these content areas so they can achieve their best scores possible and get into the college of their choice. Each online SAT tutor at Enhanced Prep has a minimum of 5 years’ experience and Enhanced Prep as a whole has served tens of thousands of students.

The SAT Exam

High school students in their junior and senior year take the SAT in order to demonstrate to college admission boards that they are prepared to take on college-level work. The test may also be used as a way to get scholarships. The SAT is offered 7 times a year, allowing for plenty of opportunities for retakes. Students who wish to get the highest score possible in time for college application deadlines may benefit from SAT tutoring at Enhanced Prep. Enhanced Prep works with each student to determine what strategies will work best for them to maximize their chances of getting a good score.

Frequently Asked Questions

What test should I be taking?

One test does not fit all – students should take the test that highlights their strengths! The ACT is typically best suited for students stronger in reading comprehension and English, while the SAT is usually a better fit for students with stronger skills in Math. Not sure which test is the best option for you? We’ve got you covered. Contact us today for a consultation and find out which test suits you best!

How should I prepare for the SAT?

Test-takers should prepare for the SAT first by paying attention in class and completing their assignments. The SAT covers topics students learn in school, so keeping up with coursework is necessary for success. Students should start studying for the SAT well in advance so that they aren’t forced to cram right before the test and can spend more time identifying their strengths and weaknesses. An online SAT tutor can especially help with this because they have an objective view of a student’s abilities and can create a study plan for them. Lastly, students should take multiple practice tests, including timed ones, to get a feel for what test day will be like.

Is the SAT hard?

The SAT tests students on topics they should already be familiar with; there are no surprise “SAT words,” or special vocabulary that a student wouldn’t normally use or understand. However, the exam can still be difficult, and many students may need extra help to prepare, whether they just need a refresher on subjects they haven’t studied in a while, or they want to make sure their knowledge is as sharp as possible for test day. This is where tutoring can be beneficial, especially for a test as important as the SAT; tutors can guide students in the right subjects and give them tips and strategies for test day. Enhanced Prep’s online SAT tutors focus on students’ most immediate needs so they can arrive at test day confident in their abilities.

How many times can I retake the SAT?

Students can take the SAT as many times as they need to in order to achieve desired results. It’s recommended that students take the SAT at least twice, once in the spring of their junior year of high school and another in the fall of their senior year. This ensures they have enough time to send their scores in to colleges in time for application deadlines. However, retaking the SAT is up to the student and their highest scores will be sent to colleges no matter which take they received them on, so it may be beneficial to determine if a retake is worth it.

Are calculators allowed on the SAT?

Students must bring their own scientific or graphing calculator for the Math portion of the test. The Math portion  calculators are allowed. The Reading and Writing and Language portions of the test do not allow calculators. Students are responsible for making sure their calculators are in good condition and may have to work without one if theirs fails.

What is a passing score on the SAT?

The SAT has a score range of 400-1600, which is the total of all the section scores. There is no passing score on the SAT, but the higher the score a student gets, the better they may fare in getting into the college of their choice. Students can check the average scores of admitted applicants for the colleges they wish to attend and aim for a score in that range. Students who seek SAT help with Enhanced Prep can tell their tutor that a certain score is their goal, and the tutor will work with them to try to help them achieve it.
